Santa Cruz Barrios Unidos is proud to offer its Summer Internship & Leadership Academy, a free six-week leadership and workforce development program designed to empower young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become leaders in their communities.

The program features two age-specific cohorts:

  • Summer Leadership Academy (Ages 12–17)
  • Summer Internship Program (Ages 18–26)

Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and community engagement, participants will explore topics that strengthen personal growth, leadership development, cultural awareness, and civic participation.

What Participants Will Learn

Youth will have opportunities to:

  • Develop leadership and communication skills
  • Build workforce readiness and professional development skills
  • Learn about advocacy, public policy, and community organizing
  • Explore cultural identity and community history
  • Participate in mentorship and relationship-building activities
  • Engage in community-based projects and experiential learning

Participants in the Internship Program will also gain valuable exposure to workplace expectations, professional development, and career pathways through hands-on training and real-world experiences.

Participants will build meaningful connections, gain practical life skills, and develop the tools needed to create positive change in their communities.
